FAQs

Do you have an accessibility Statement?

Yes, here it is!

Our guesthouse is currently unsuitable for guests using wheelchairs or power chairs.

The guesthouse has one low step (4cm) outside and another step (6cm) over the threshold. The front door width is 68.5cm. There is no staircase inside the guesthouse but there is a 2cm step between the front door and the kitchen and there are two 3cm steps between the living area and the bedroom. The bedroom door is 67.7cm wide. The bathroom is not accessible due to it’s small size & lack of turning space. There are two internal doors and they have circular handles. We do not have handrails inside or outside the guesthouse.

The paths leading from the parking space to the guesthouse are made from chunky gravel and they are 50m apart although you can stop directly outside the door to the guesthouse for a short time. At night the area is lit by three motion activated lights.

The guesthouse is stocked with scented washing up liquid, hand soap, body wash, and conditioner. The shampoo is fragrance free. We are able to provide unscented hand soap & washing up liquid on request.

We wash our sheets and towels with a scented bio laundry liquid. They can be washed / re-washed in an unscented non-bio laundry liquid if requested when booking. Our fabric conditioner is fragrance free.

There is a scented reed diffuser in the bedroom. We are able to remove the reed diffuser upon request. If you need to have the space aired for 24 hours after the reed diffuser is removed please let us know when booking.

Crockery, cutlery, cereal, coffee and tea making equipment, and board games are stored in cupboards above the sink. These can be moved to the lower cupboards upon request.

Our fire alarms only have audio indicators.

We can provide a version of our guest guide via PDF so that it can be read by a screen reader. We currently do not allow dogs because of our rescued animals but assistance dogs are of course very welcome. Please contact us about emotional support animals.

There is no flat or maintained path between the guesthouse and the sheep field.

Future goals:

We will start to provide an unscented body wash & conditioner.

We are looking into adding fire alarms with a visual indicator.

We are working on a pay it forwards scheme to assist people who are struggling financially.

We are planning to build an outdoor toilet & shower room for sanctuary visitors and volunteers and are waiting until we can afford to build an accessible option.

We are planning to build a second guesthouse space, either an OmniPod or a barn conversion, and accessibility will be our number one priority during the build.

In the future we would like to build a fully surfaced path / boardwalk to the sheep field that ends in a viewing platform.
